Taba's Model (Hilda Taba, 1962)
- Grass-roots approach
- same with Tyler, the main difference is the need to carry out a diagnosis of needs in Taba's Model.
- Inductive approach - teacher start by creating teaching-learning units for the students, rather than by engaging initially.
7 Steps of Taba's Model
[Diagnosis of needs] ➔ [Selection of objectives] ➔ [Selection of contents] ➔ [Organization of contents] ➔ [Selection of learning experiences] ➔ [Organization of learning experiences] ➔ [Determining of what a evaluate and how to evaluate it]
Weakness
- Teachers ability to create and select materials appropriate to learner's expressed needs.
- Required skill on the part of the teacher, as well as time and resources.
- Teachers may also find it difficult to strike an acceptable balance among the needs and interests of students.
CONTEMPORARY MODEL
- Needs Analysis
- Formulating Objectives
- Selecting and Organizing Content
- Implementing the Curriculum
- Evaluating the Curriculum
